What is a ‘cookie’?
A cookie is a file that is downloaded on your computer when you access certain websites. Among other things, cookies allow a website to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or about their piece of equipment and, depending on the information they contain and how the user uses their piece of equipment, they can be used to recognize the user.
Are all cookies the same?
No. There are many kinds of cookies, depending on their purpose and how long they remain installed on your terminal (some only remained installed for the duration of a session and others can remain installed for years!). According to these criteria, there are cookies that require the consent of the user of the website and others that do not (exempt cookies). Exempt cookies are, among others, those cookies which are essential for your computer and our servers to communicate with each other and allow you to browse our website more quickly, without collecting protected information about you. There are also cookies that are ours (our own) and others that belong to third parties. We use both types of cookies; we will talk about the latter in the THIRD-PARTY COOKIES section.
What cookies do we use?
Cookies are divided into groups according to their purpose. Below we have listed the main groups of cookies, so you can familiarize yourself with them:
- Technical cookies: They allow the user to browse a website, platform or application. - Personalization cookies: They allow the user to access the service with some general characteristics predefined according to a series of criteria in the user’s terminal, such as, for example: the language, the type of browser via which the user is accessing the service, the regional configuration for the region from which the user is accessing the service, and so on.
- Analysis cookies: Cookies which, processed by us or by third parties, allow us to calculate the number of users and thus to statistically measure and analyze their use of the service we provide. To this end, we analyze their browsing activities on our website in order to improve the range of products or services we provide.
- Advertising cookies: They allow the advertising spaces which the publisher has included, where appropriate, in a web page, application or platform from which the requested service is provided to be managed, in the most efficient way possible, based on criteria such as the published content or the frequency with which ads are shown.
- Behavioural advertising cookies: Cookies which, regardless of whether they are processed by us or by third parties, allow us to manage the offer of advertisement spaces on the website in the most efficient manner, the content of the adverts being adapted to match the content of the service requested by the user or the use they make of our website. In order to do this we can analyze their Internet browsing habits and show them adverts associated with their browsing profile.
